  • Poster presentations

Details regarding submission requirements for each format are below. The first author listed on the proposal will be notified of the committee’s proposal decision by September 2019. Presenters must register for the GP3 2020 Forum. Travel expenses, room, board, and registration fees are the responsibility of the presenters.

We look forward to seeing you all in Oberlin! Use the links below to submit your proposals.

Questions?

  1. Performances:
The conference will include a recital featuring performances of teaching repertoire. Regarding the selections:
    • The piece does not have to be new, but should be interesting and fresh. We would prefer to stay away from standard selections and familiar works by composers like J. S. Bach or Clementi.
    • Selections must be five minutes or less in length. Verbal introductions will not be included in the concert.
    • Solos, duets, or ensembles for one piano are welcome.

Your submission should include the following:

    • A 50-word repertoire description
    • A link to a YouTube video of you performing your proposed selection
    • A 35-word bio
    • A recent headshot
    • Your contact information: name, institutional affiliation (if appropriate), email, telephone

  2. Lightning talks:
We are accepting proposals for five-minute presentations (strictly enforced) on innovative teaching strategies and content. If you wish to include a visual element, widescreen PowerPoint slides will be welcome. The talks should be practical in nature, concise and succinct.
  3. Your submission should include the following:

    • A 250-word abstract or session description
    • A 35-word bio
    • A recent headshot
    • Your contact information: name, institutional affiliation (if appropriate), email, telephone

  4. Poster presentations:
We are looking for dynamic poster presentations featuring research or practical teaching applications in both traditional print (poster) and digital (computer-aided) formats, or in a combination of print and digital. If you choose a digital format, we suggest using PowerPoint, Prezi, or other presentation software that can “loop” through the material.
  5. Your submission should include the following:

    • A 250-word abstract or poster description
    • A preliminary graphic of the poster, or a description of how you plan to present the digital “poster”
    • A 35-word bio
    • A recent headshot
    • Your contact information: name, institutional affiliation (if appropriate), email, telephone

    For selected poster presenters:

    • Tables and easels will be provided—presenters must furnish your own poster board and computers.
    • A card with your name and email should be made available for viewers if they have further questions.
    • All posters shall be no larger than 30" x 40" and should include all pertinent information in a manner that is visible from three to four feet away. Research posters should also include title, authors and abstract (where needed).
    • You must furnish your own audiovisual equipment and headphones.
    • Digital presentations should include title, authors and abstract (where needed).
    • Your poster or digital presentation must be made available to MTNA for inclusion on their website and the MTNA e-Journal.
